Paint-Along with Anne Parkes


Date: Friday September 6, 2024

Time:  6:30PM - 9:30PM (3 hours) 

Discover when gouache florals meet a vintage vibe! Create your own vintage poster and learn to paint a variety of floral species using gouache with guidance from artist Annie Parkes. Experience a fun paint night and get to take home your very own framed artwork!  All materials & frames provided. No previous painting experience required

Let's paint a simple still life together! With guidance from artist Jules Monson using acrylic paint on canvas board. Beginner friendly with all materials provided.

Jules Monson is a painter/illustrator from Toronto. With an unparalleled skill for rendering intricate details and a vivid imagination that knows no bounds, she transports viewers to otherworldly scenes where the whimsical and the baroque converge in mesmerizing harmony.

Yoga With Bkez

Begin your weekend with a rejuvenating yoga class designed to release stress and cultivate mental clarity and calmness. Led by Bareket, this class focuses on mindful movements and proper alignment, empowering you to build strength and create spaciousness within your mind and body.

Awaken your body and mind with a thoughtful flow of sun salutations, standing sequences, balancing poses, and mindful rest. Each session is crafted to help you cultivate a deeper connection with your breath and movement, promoting a harmonious balance that you can carry with you off the mat.

This class is suitable for students with varying degrees of yoga experience. Postures can be modified to meet the needs of both beginners and more experienced students.

Whether you're seeking to refine your practice or embark on a new journey, this class offers a supportive environment to practice in a community.

Paint-Along with Emily May Rose

Time:  6:30-9:30 (3 hours) 

Create your very own customized raccoon painting with step-by-step guidance from artist Emily May Rose! No artistic experience is necessary, the main goal is having fun! Perfect for date nights, group outings, or a solo activity to unwind and make new friends. Each participant will take home their finished 8"x10” painting on canvas board. All art supplies will be provided.

Lino with Lola


Date: Friday June 14, 2024

Time: 6:30 - 8:30PM (2 hours)

Learn with Lola, a local queer artist and printmaker, how to design, carve, ink, and print your own linocut prints. This guided workshop is designed for participants age 16+ at any level of artistic skill. We will go over vocabulary, techniques, materials, and safety before diving into creating your own lino block stamp! You can follow one of three designs created for this class, or  design your own, making this suitable to absolute beginners as well as artists looking to try out a new medium. At the end of the two hour workshop, you will be able to take home up to 10 black and white prints of your making, as well as your custom lino block and the know-how to make many more!

Dog Draw III: The Barkening

Date: Friday August 9, 2024

Time: 7:00 - 9:00pm (2 hours)

We’re doing it again, for a third time!

This night of life-drawing has a twist - the models are dogs! Come draw some puppers on Friday August 9 from 7pm - 9pm at Northern Contemporary. BYOM (bring your own materials). Open to all skill levels.

Besides the cuteness factor (which will be high) you get to practice a whole different set of textures and anatomy. We’ll have a variety of different dogs and pose styles - you get a night unlike any other and you’ll go home with a stack of personal masterpieces to frame and display.

Cost: $25 per participant (Ages 10+,participants under 14 must be accompanied by an adult)

Life Drawing


Date: Every Tuesday

Time: 6:30 - 9:30PM (3 hours)

Drop-in Northern Contemporary for uninstructed life drawing sessions with a live model. Just bring your own drawing supplies, and we'll take care of everything else.
