CALL FOR ARTISTS - Northern Contemporary is seeking submissions for 'It's Not Easy Being Green,' an art show that celebrates the colour green in all its forms. We invite artists to submit works where green is the primary or predominant colour, with no limitations to subject matter.
The opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 18th, 2024 from 6pm-10pm.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
- You may submit up to 5 pieces that fit the criteria. The gallery may select any number of your submissions to be included in the show. Artworks must fit the theme, all (or primarily) the colour green. We do not accept "AI generated art".
- Please do not submit work that has previously been shown at Northern Contemporary.
- Please provide clear photos of your pieces, exactly as they will be displayed in the show (for example, include the frame if your piece is framed). Please ensure all files are named with your info as follows: "ARTISTNAME_ARTWORKTITLE.jpg"
- Pieces must be ready to hang with proper hanging hardware already attached. Works on paper must be framed. Work that is at risk to be damaged may be accepted but at owners risk. Pieces must be under 24"x24" including framing, or they will be subject to an oversize fee.
- Paintings, drawings, printmaking, mixed media art, and sculpture are all acceptable mediums.
- There is a $30 hanging fee for the first piece. Every additional piece accepted is $10, oversized pieces will be charged an additional $10.
- Artists working in sculpture should be prepared to provide or arrange their own display units.

EXHIBITION DETAILS:
Drop off: April 16th, noon-6pm
Pick up: May 1st, noon-6pm
Please note the gallery will be closed Sunday, April 21st for a private event
Commission: The gallery takes a 40% commission on sales.
Right of Sale: Northern Contemporary Gallery will have the exclusive right of sale for exhibited artwork for 30 days after the exhibition's close.
Artwork must be picked up on the pickup date, the gallery cannot store artworks past this day. Artwork left past this day will be considered forfeited.

Eligibility: This call for artists is open to all artists. Painting, drawing, mixed media, and sculpture are all acceptable mediums. Keep in mind that Northern Contemporary focuses on illustrative, representational, urban, lowbrow, comic, pop art, and experimental work.
Artworks must be dropped off in person. Due to high volume, the gallery does not accept mailed or couriered works for open call shows.
General Submissions
We accept general submissions year-round as we are always on the lookout for new and exciting artists. We focus on (but are not limited to) illustrative, representational, urban, lowbrow, comic, pop art, and experimental work. Please note that Northern Contemporary does not represent artists.
You may also submit show ideas if you are looking to rent the space.
